The Porch is a new church startup in San Francisco. We are committed to living for Jesus in this city that we love.

We started this church in our neighborhood because we live here and we love the people here. We are deeply committed to the city and want our neighbors to be loved, heard, and a part of a genuine community.

New churches are one of the best ways to introduce people to Christ and the Christian community. Here in the northeast corridor (the six neighborhoods that make up District 3: Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Telegraph Hill and the Embarcadero), the population is around 71,000 and there are only a handful of Bible preaching churches

After Pentecost, the church grew rapidly from 120 frightened disciples to thousands of believers, and very quickly, the upper room wasn’t cutting it for church meetings. So they would meet in smaller groups in people’s houses, and the whole church would gather together to hear the Apostles teach at a part of the temple called Solomon’s Porch on the eastern side of the Temple Mount. It was a shaded area in the court of the gentiles where everyone could come worship together. We realize most people in San Francisco don’t have a front porch of their own, so our gatherings are like a front porch for the community—a casual place where everyone is welcome.

Plan A Visit

Join us on Sunday evenings at 4:00pm at the SFEFC building at 756 Union Street, San Francisco, CA 94133 right between North Beach and Chinatown as we gather to worship, learn, and grow together.

TRANSIT & PARKING

The Powell/Mason cable car, T-Third, as well as the 45, 30, 8, 12, 1, and 39 Muni lines have stops nearby.

Street parking is usually free on Sundays, and there are a number of parking garages within a few blocks of our location.

If you’re visiting for the first time, let us know, and we’ll cover your parking expenses (or your next burrito).

What should I expect on a Sunday?

Our Sundays are about worshipping our King, Jesus. We are not the fanciest church. We are just a group of regular people who gather together to praise our king, study his word, and spend time together. Our gatherings are about an hour and a half long, and families with kids or babies are more than welcome. More information about our Sundays can be found here.
